Obituary of Vera Hunt

Please share a memory of Vera to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
84, Aylesford, Kings Co., passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009, surrounded by her loved ones, in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Aylesford, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Uila (Ellis) Jarvis. She was a member of the Kingston East Congreation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Vera graduated from Mack Business College in 1950 and soon became employed by the Town of Kentville. In 1954 she moved to Halifax to work for the Department of Public Health. Several years later she returned to the valley and worked for the Department of Natural Resources until her retirement. Over the years, not only was Vera appreciated for her knitted and crocheted projects, her natural ability to paint was obvious. She loved to partake in a good game of canasta and putter around in her garden until a stroke in 2005 prevented her from doing the things she loved to do. Vera is survived by her dedicated sister, Hazel Keddy, Aylesford, who faithfully visited her during her illness, brought her tea and treats and treasured their time together. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Vera's only brother, Harold, with whom she shared a love of music, predeceased her in 1971. By Vera's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), officiated by Philip Spinney. Burial will take place at a later date, in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. If you wish, donations in her memory may be made to the Grand View Manor or a charity of choice. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.hclindsayfuneralhome.ca
