85, Berwick, Kings Co. passed away Wednesday March 19, 2008, at home. Born in Waterville, Kings Co., he was a son of the late John and Nora (Lightfoot) Foster. John spent most of his working life in Halifax, with 40 years of service at city car dealerships with the longest time spent at Scotia Chevrolet Olds, retiring back to the Annapolis Valley. He was a member of Valley Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M., Berwick and was a former member of Acadia Lodge # 14, A.F. & A.M., Halifax, with 60 years membership in the Masonic order. John was an avid fisherman & gardener. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Jean E. (Lamphier) Foster, Berwick; brothers, Lyle (Kathleen) Foster, Cambridge Station; Richard "Dick" (Barbara) Foster, Waverley; sister, Pauline Church, Bedford; several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Malcom & sister-in-law, Jean Foster; brother-in-law, Harold Church. There will be no visitation. There will be Masonic Service and Funeral Service followed by a reception 2 p.m. Monday March 24, all in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900). Rev. Charles Bull officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
