Obituary of Nellie Fitzgerald

83, of Steam Mill, passed away suddenly Thursday March 20, 2008 in her home. Born June 28, 1924, she was a daughter of the late David and Bertha (Rafuse) Schnare, and birth parents, Lillian (Rafuse) Lovett and Hiram Smith. Nellie was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. She was a member of Horizon's Seniors group. Nellie was a very loving and caring mother and enjoyed her family and friends. She loved to knit for the Christmas Daddies and Guardian Angels. She would knit baby booties and mittens. She also loved to quilt. She will be sadly missed by her many family and friends. Nellie is survived by sons, George (Jean), Brampton, Ont.; Michael, Steam Mill; Raymond, Steam Mill; Steven, Toronto, Ont.; daughters, Pauline (Gary) Love New Maryland, N.B.; Judy Lambert, New Minas; Pat (Wayne) Quirk, North Alton; Marilyn (Dennis) Wilson, Halls Harbour; Barbara (Jeff) Gibson, Kanata, Ont.; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Nellie was predeceased by her loving husband, Alphonse Fitzgerald; brother, Donald Schnare; sisters Margaret Seamen; Dorothy Hanson; Marion Schnare. Visitation for Mrs. Fitzgerald will be held 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Monday March 24, 2008 in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville B4N 2K5 (902-678-2151). A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday March 25, 2008 in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. Father Craig Christenson officiating. Interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only please, however donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia or to the Children's Wish Foundation.
