79, of Weston and Berwick, Kings County, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, in the Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born on October 6, 1929 in the Forties, Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Ira Gordon and Bertha Maude (Bezanson) Reeves and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a graduate of the Normal College, Truro in 1947 and taught school in the Forties area before her marriage to Fayne Robert Hiltz Brown on July 6, 1949. She substituted in several Kings County schools after her marriage. She was a long-time resident of the community of Weston. During her life-time Annie was very involved in her church and many community organizations. She was a member of Christ Church and the Anglican Church Women, Berwick as well as many organizations within her own community of Weston. For many years she was the Weston Community Correspondent for the Berwick Register and Kentville Advertiser. She was a member of the Weston Women's Institute holding several executive positions locally and was also involved regionally especially with Regional Conventions. She loved caring for her flower gardens and was a member of her local Garden Club. She helped with and was also Chair of the Berwick Gala Days Flower Show for several years. Her latest passion was rug hooking and she has left her family a legacy of her talent in the many works of art she has given them. She was a member of the Rags to Riches and Happy Hookers rug hooking groups. She is survived by her sons, Eric F. Brown (Leah), Granville Ferry; Peter G. Brown (Carol Eisner), Weston; Darryl C. Brown (Marsha), Aylesford; her grandchildren, Nicholas Brown, Eastern Passage; Benjamin Brown, Weston; Jacqueline, Michael, Lucas Brown, Aylesford; sisters-in-law, Bettylu Reeves, Mary Reeves, Shirley (Ashton) Reeves, Beatrice Reeves (Carl Mosher), the Forties; Lois Lewis, Dempsey Corner; Nina Moody, Berwick; Arlene Brown, Meadowvale; Betty Brown, Port Dover, ON; brothers-in-law, Clifford Brown, Mahone Bay; Donald Brown, Moose Jaw, Sask.; Charles Brown, Uxbridge,ON; Robert Brown (Jenny Trask), Aylesford East; Oran Reeves (Janet Acker) Aaldersville; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Fayne, brothers, Gordon Reeves and Murray Reeves; sister, Joyce and brother-in-law, Dean Rafuse and their infant daughter, sisters-in-law, Ella Reeves, Marion Brown, Frances Brown, Valerie Brown, Verna Brown; brothers-in-law, Dale Brown, Harley Brown, Leith Brown, Lloyd Lewis, Calvin Reeves, and James Moody. Her family would like to thank Dr. R. Bustin and the staff of Grand View Manor for the wonderful and loving care they have provided during her residency there, especially during these last few weeks. Visitation for Annie will take place on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service will take place 2 p.m., Saturday, September 26. Rev. Charles Bull officiating, with burial in the Berwick Cemetery. A sharing of memories will follow the committal in the Weston Community Hall, 3469 Brooklyn St., Weston. Donations in her memory may be made to the Grand View Manor Activity Fund, Christ Church, Berwick or the Weston Community Hall.
