98, Waterville, Kings Co., passed away Sunday September 14, 2008, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Sheffield Mills, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late William D. and Harriet (Ramsay) Burgess. After graduating from Mount Allison Ladies College she had owned and operated the Rainbow Gardens Restaurant in Bridgetown for a number of years. She was an active member of the United Church of Canada (Trinity United Church, Waterville), and was a life member of the United Church Women. She had also been a member of the Red Cross Society. Surviving are nieces, Audrey (Robert) Lewis, Blue Rocks; Arlene (Gordon) Richardson, Moncton, N.B.; Edna (Peter) Miller, Moshers Corner; Deanna (Eldon) Smith, Port Williams; nephew, David (Elizabeth) Burgess, Portuguese Cove; several grand nieces & grand nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Curtis & Oscar Burgess. Visitation for Jean will take place 7-9 p.m. Thursday, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), from where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday September 19, followed by a reception. Rev. Linda Winton officiating with burial in the family plot in the United Cemetery, Canard.
