84, Second World War Veteran of Wingham, Ontario, formerly of Somerst, Kings Co. passed away on May 21, 2008, in Wingham & District Hospital, Wingham. Born in Port Williams, Kings Co. he was the son of the late Arthur and Annie (Reese) Avery. Stanley was the last surviving member of his immediate family by being predeceased by his parents, eight brothers; four sisters. He was the dear husband of the late Phyllis (Saltzman) Avery. Predeceased by son, Arthur James Avery and son-in-law, Peter Hoogwerf. Beloved father of Debra Hoogwerf, Colborne, Ont.; Kathy Leeman (Gary), Lucknow, Ont.; loving grandfather of Tim, Kim, Beth, Jesse, Joe, Josh & Justin. Also survived by eight great grandchildren. A graveside service will take place 11:00 a.m., Friday September 26, in the Berwick Cemetery. Rev. Linda Winton officiating, with a reception to follow in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900).
