63, of Chester, formerly of Scotts Bay Road, Kings Co., passed away Monday, July 7th 2008 at Bonny Lea Farm were he resided. Born at Scotts Bay Road, he was the son of the late Basil and Leila (Brewster) Barkhouse. His younger years were spent at Scotts Bay Road, were he attended the little country school. In his late teens he moved to Halifax .Eugene had a great smile and had a love for music, food, movies and entertained everyone in the morning with his Opera singing. He lived in the Piers House Small Options program and worked at the Doctor Alberta Pew Baker Centre (day program) for 15 yrs. He is survived by his brother, Donald (Muriel) Barkhouse, Habitant; six nieces, Angelina (Michael) Preeper, Alberta, Susan, Ontario, Linda (Norman) Guovinen, Cynthia (Mike) Gilligan, both of B.C., Crystal (James) Cook, Timberlea, Danyelle Barkhouse, Annapolis; several grand nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his brother Darrell; sister, Shirley. Visitation for Mr. Barkhouse will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday July 10 in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville (902-678-2151) where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday July 11. Mr. William Bryant officiating.
