88, Windsor, formerly of New Minas, passed away on Tuesday, November 25th at the Windsor Elms. Born in Burlington, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Viola Ogilvie. A life-long resident of the Annapolis Valley, Bessie and her husband, Philip, made their home in New Minas and raised their four children in that community. Prior to taking up residence at the Windsor Elms, she was an active member of the New Minas Baptist Church, a member of the Women's Fellowship Group and a life member of the Women's Missionary Society. She was a former member of the church choir and former Superintendent of the Sunday School. She was an avid gardener, quilter, and crafter. Bessie is survived by daughters Janet (Andrew) Kirk, Windsor; and Marion (Scott) Leier, Port Williams; son, Calvin (Joyce) Halifax; sister, Myrna (Les) Saunders, Burlington; brothers, Calvin (Edith), Miramichi City, NB; and Malcolm (Alice), Burlington; 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by a wide circle of friends including her friends and âfamily' at the Windsor Elms. Bessie was predeceased by husband, Philip; daughter, Carol Cassidy; sisters, Marion Huntley and Eleanor Ogilvie; and brothers, LeRoy, Everett, and Francis. Visitation 7 - 9 pm on Friday, November 28th, in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 5 Leverett Ave., Kentville. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 29th, at the New Minas Baptist Church, the Rev. Dr. Robert Knowles officiating. Private burial in East Aylesford Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the New Minas Baptist Church or to the Music Therapy Program at the Windsor Elms.
