Obituary of Paul Eudes Gallagher

GALLAGHER, Paul Eudes – 75, New Minas, formerly of Grand Pre, and most recently residing at Grand View Manor, Berwick, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 12, 2007, in the manor. Born in Digby, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Sugden) Gallagher. Paul started his career in shipping as a seaman with the S/S Irvingdale in 1952. He worked with various companies throughout his lifetime and visited many ports of call around the world. Paul worked during the 1980s as Chief Engineer with Dome Petroleum in the Beaufort Sea, Northwest Territories, before retirement. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Jessop) Gallagher, New Minas; daughters Theresa (Donald) Gallagher-Sweeney, Yarmouth; Paula Gallagher, Kentville; grandchildren Jeremey and Brittany, Yarmouth; brother Philip (Bernadette) Gallagher; sister Margaret Hemsworth; sister-in-law Rhoda Gallagher, all of Annapolis Royal; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by brother John J. “Jack” Gallagher, Annapolis Royal. No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday April 17, in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Wolfville, Father Larry Pitcher officiating. Interment will be held in Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pre. A reception will follow in the church hall. Donations in Paul’s memory may be made to the Grand View Manor, Scotia Nursing Home or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of both nursing homes.
