Kathleen Anita Schofield
March 1, 1942 – October 14, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Kathleen “Anita” Schofield (née Arenburg), after a long courageous battle with cancer, on October 14, 2025, at the age of 83, in Kentville, NS.
Anita was born March 1, 1942, in Kentville. Daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn (née Thibodeau) Arenburg. There she attended school at Kings Country Academy. After having her two children and meeting the love of her life, she spent her life living and working in the Orchards in Port Williams, NS. She was a Flea Market vendor for many years at the County Fair Mall, where she was well-known and loved by all. Anita had a huge heart, amazing sense of humour – always making others laugh; she loved her family, animals, lotto scratch tickets and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Anita is predeceased by her loving parents, Edward and Evelyn Arenburg, stepson Neal Schofield and step grandson Wayne Schofield.
She will be immensely missed by her loving husband Nelson, soulmates, holding each other until the end. She will be missed by her loving son Gary (Bonnie) DeEll (Kentville), who spent the last year by her side, keeping her laughing and fed – she loved her food! She will be missed by her loving daughter Tracey (Jeff) Collier (USA), who had daily phone calls with her and shared an immense love for animals with her Mom.
In addition, Anita leaves behind her stepsons, Leonard (Jessie) Schofield, Alan Schofield, Glen (Debbie) Schofield, Stanley (Connie) Schofield and stepdaughter, Annette Schofield. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sisters, Louise Boyes and Ruth (Don) DeEll; grandchildren Mitchell, Amanda (Josh), Terra (Jason), step grandchildren Jaret, Amanda (Mike), Ryan (Briana), Brenton (Rachel), Alex (Shania), Abigail (Colton), Tyler, Kayla, Richard; great grandchildren Brooklyn “Jade”, Caleb, Abigail, Leah; great step grandchildren, Logan, Alynna, Breeyann, Braxten, Emily, Brody, Jayden, Hank, Grayson, Valerie and Silas; as well as other family and friends. Additionally, Anita will be missed her special friend Kathy Sperry, her best friend, partner-in-crime, and adventure buddy.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Support Staff at Valley Regional Hospital who cared for her during the last year. As well as many thanks to Valley Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care during her final days.
