Karen VanKippersluis

Obituary of Karen Ann VanKippersluis

The world grew a little quieter on September 1, 2025, as Karen Ann “Gussy” VanKippersluis (Benjamin) took her final breath with the love of her life, Chris and her family by her side in the Valley Hospice, Karen left behind a memory that will shine forever.  Born in Kentville on December 11, 1974, Karen was the youngest daughter of seven children of the late Clayton and Kathleen Benjamin.

Karen’s heart was a sanctuary for all animals, yet it beat with a special rhythm for her beloved dogs, Star and Bella. Her love for Chris was tender and unwavering, a quiet harmony that lit the lives of everyone around them. She will be deeply missed, her presence leaving a gentle emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Karen is survived by her beloved husband, Chris of Torbrook; sister, Kelly, of New Minas; brothers, Wayne of Nictaux, Blair (Wendy) of Kentville, and Donnie of New Minas; stepmother, Myrna of Truro; mother-in-law, Janet Bennett and Paul Graves as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Karen was predeceased by her brothers, Bruce and Wade; father-in-law, Willie VanKippersluis and Phillip Bennett.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Craig White and another thank you goes to the staff in the Valley Hospice for the kindness and compassion Karen received during her stay.

Cremation has already taken place. There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date, and at Karen’s request, a private family graveside service to be held. Donations may be made to the SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 198 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS (902) 679-2822.
