Obituary of Catherine Anne Monk

Catherine Anne Monk

October 13, 1937-June 1, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine Anne Monk, our dear mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.  She was the daughter of the late Arnold and Agatha Whitworth.

Catherine grew up in Dartmouth and eventually moved to Dorchester, NB with her husband, Ross. They raised their family there up to their retirement years. They then settled in Sackville, NB. Catherine and Ross enjoyed many winters in Florida. After the passing of Ross, Catherine moved back to Dartmouth with her daughter, Donna and beloved dog, Phinn.

Catherine was proud of her career as a nurse at the Sackville Hospital. She always loved to help others. She will always be remembered for her beautiful warm smile, kind heart, and especially for her sense of humor that could make any one laugh.

Catherine is survived by her 3 children, Danette (Ron), Donna, and Damien (Kim), 3 grandsons, Jarod, Ryan, and Jaden. She is also survived by her siblings, Janet (George), Trudy, Jimmy (Stephanie), Pat, Toby (Elisa), Rosemary (Cedric), Eric (Jan), brother-in-laws, Jack and Scott (Rachel).

In addition to her parents, Catherine is predeceased by her husband, Ross, of 55 years married and son David.

Deepest thank you to the palliative care team at Dartmouth General Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held with family as per Catherine's wishes.

Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
