Obituary of Garry Edward Hamilton
In Loving Memory of Garry Edward Hamilton
August 3, 1963 – May 28, 2025
Garry Edward Hamilton was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Halifax, Garry was the son of Elizabeth (Goodall) and Carl Hamilton.
Garry is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Hamilton (MacDonald); his children, Adam Hamilton, Michael Thomas (Leah), and Ruby Hamilton (Chris); and his cherished grandson, Bentley Harris. He also leaves behind his sisters, Beverley Hamilton and Susan Hamilton; niece, Ashley Van Der Ploeg (Adrian), nephews, Thomas Beazley and Connor Ellis; great-nieces Elizabeth and Adalynn Van Der Ploeg.
In addition to his parents, Garry was predeceased by his sister, Beth Hamilton, and his brothers, Scott Hamilton and Barry Reid — Garry’s twin.
A day one Ottawa Senators fan, Garry loved cheering on his team and attending local hockey games throughout the Annapolis Valley. In his free time, he also enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, and doing puzzles.
Above all, Garry’s greatest joy was his family. He was endlessly proud of his grandson Bentley and never missed a moment to celebrate his growth and accomplishments.
Garry was a fighter his whole life, meeting every challenge with strength and determination. His courage and resilience inspired those around him, and we are forever grateful for the time we had with him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Meadowview Community Centre, Kentville NS. All who knew and loved Garry are welcome to come and share their memories. In lieu of flowers, donations in Garry’s name can be made to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in recognition of the exceptional care and support that helped extend his time with us.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, always.
