Obituary of Ferne Lenora Eye

It is with sadness that we mourn the passing of Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother, Ferne Lenora Eye on January 25, 2025, ending a long struggle with dementia. Born in Wolfville, on July 7th, 1930 & raised in Gaspereau Valley, Ferne was the daughter of the late Starr & Hilda (Schofield) Gertridge & was the last surviving member of her family.

Once Ferne put her mind to something there was no stopping her. She could turn her hand at anything she set out to do ! “Our Mother’s Hand’s Certainly Made Our House A Home “

She was a mother to five boys, that alone was a full-time job and certainly deserved an honorary medal. While raising her family, during her early years she worked at Bishop’s Farm which is now known as Noggin’s Corner Farm as well as making fudge for Hennigar’s Farm Market. Ferne also worked at Sears & from there she went to work driving  a school bus for Horton  District High School & then working for a while  at Box of Delight’s in Wolfville. Ferne also provided care, helping seniors in their home when needed.

Ferne is survived by her sons, Stephen (Betty Joe), Bryson (Anne), Jeffeory (Glenda), Kenneth (Elizabeth); sister-in-law’s, Marion Gertridge & Geneva Gertridge; grandson’s, Matthew (Katherine), Joshua, Shawn (Melissa), Jeremy (Paige), Tyler (Julie Anne) & Travis; granddaughter’s Halee (Michael) & Chelsea. great grandchildren, Jackson, Carter, Bentley, Maddox, Hendrix, Jace, Cohen, Dekarie, Akilah, and Brooklyn. step grandchildren & step-great grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha & Aaron. Tyler (Emily), Ricky (Becca), Benjamin & Brooklyn. Dylan (Ashley) Mia & Zoey

In addition to her parents, Ferne was predeceased by her brother’s, Charles, (Infant) Blaine, Wilford, Ross, Garth, David and Murray; sister’s, Faye Stirling & Bonnie Wheaton; husband, Gerald; Son Michael; daughter-in-law, Mary-Lou Eye; grand daughter-In-Law, Shannon Loretta Eye and grandson, Kyle Aaron Eye.
