Obituary of Shelley Jane Elaine Lake

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shelley Lake (nee Hunter) announce her passing on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the age of 66. Born on April 13, 1958, Shelley was the daughter of the late Clary Hunter and Effie Spencer. Shelley grew up mostly in Belmont. It was there she would meet the love of her life, John, who she would go on to marry and build a life with while raising their two sons.

 

Shelley was a beloved mother, mother in-law, sister and friend to many, but her most cherished role was grandmother to her three grandchildren.
 

Shelley was an active member of her community. Working at The Tea Room in Avondale to being a long-time member of her local Women's Institute and treasurer for the St. Silas Cemetery in Belmont. A friend to many, an amazing mother, a second mother to her daughter in laws, a wonderful sister and the best Nan/Nana. Shelley was a hard worker her whole life. She faced any challenge with grace and without complaint. her memory will live on in the many who loved her.
 

In addition to her parents, Shelley was predeceased by her husband, John Lake; and sister Debbie Hunter.
 

Left to mourn are her children, Steven (Shawna) Lake, Wade (Jodi) Lake; her beloved grandchildren, Dawson, Ethan and Josie Lake; Brother, Randy (Donna) Calgary, Patsy; Windsor NS, Krista Hunter; Mississauga, Brenda; Edmonton, Tanya (Ian); Digby; Several nieces and nephews as well as her many cherished friends.
 

A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Brooklyn Civic Centre between 11 am and 2 pm. Internment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
