Harold grew up with his 3 sisters in Black Rock and was no stranger to hard work. Being the man of the family while his father was away working made him grow up fast. He carried this work ethic with him throughout his life accomplishing many things.

He fell in love with, and married, an American girl at a community dance in Harbourville the summer of 1960. That American girl was Dorothy Saunders who summered every year with Fred & Mae Saunders. Going to the states to pick apples in the fall, they were engaged and then married on December 17, 1960, settling in Kentville Nova Scotia. Harold was well known in the area peddling fish. In 1965 they moved to Marlborough, Massachusetts, then to Hopkinton, Massachusetts where they lived and raised their family for 28 years. They were married for 53 years and raised 3 children.

While living in the states, Harold worked for Dennison Manufacturing Company in Holliston, MA along with many extra jobs. He was a landscaper, property manager, handyman etc always working and providing for his family.

He returned to Nova Scotia to retire, and be with his ailing mother, in 1993 where he enjoyed his time fishing and reconnecting with his friends and family.

Harold was predeceased by his parents, wife Dorothy, daughter Susan Mespelli, grandchildren Heather Lynne Siebert and Carl “CJ” Harris, and sister Mary MacDonald of Garland. Brothers-in-law Robert Shepherd and Calvin MacDonald.
